Carolina Golf & Country Club
"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. "Customer Service, can make a day."
I recently went and played the small country club in eastern California, at the end of the summer. The Pro Keith Rader was extremely kind helping me find the place. The staff appeared to be a little grungy when I got there Larry a staff employee, while not the best looking gentleman was one of the nicest people there. The assistant a tall, upbeat young man always smileing had a few good pointers for my golf game. Though I don't remember his name I am sure we will see him further his golf career, he really seemed to know his stuff. Thanks to Cold Springs, and what an enjoyable day

Country Club of Ithaca, The
"CCI is a great experience"
This is a great little course, with spectacular service, and subtle course designs that will keep your mind engaged, but will allow you to enjoy the peacefulness this sport provides. The grounds crew is continually trying to improve the courses conditions, and the golfers experiences as he/she works their way around to their best round ever.

Show Low Country Club
"Short but challenging"
The Show Low Golf Club is a great get-away from the summer heat of Phoenix or Tucson. The average summertime high is in the 80's. The two nines are distinctly different, with the front being wide open and inviting the big stick to come out, while most are advised wisely to put their woods away on the tight tree-lined back nine. It is a fun course to play and availablity is usually quite easy.
