This course, built around an 1817 farm house, is located in a quiet and serene country setting. The fairways are wide open and lined with young trees, and the greens are large. There are springs that come into play on six holes, and approximately seven miles of cart paths. The signature hole is #12, a 552-yard, par 5, called "Heart Attack Hill." Hole #15, a 418-yard, par 4, is the most scenic because it plays into the wind, and at the top of the hill there are fantastic views of all the surrounding mountains.

Chatata Valley has changed so much over the years. The fairways have became much tighter and they have built many more sand traps on the backside. It has the best bent greens that I have ever seen. Joe Starr and his great crew have turned this course around. There is no doubt about it that this is the best course in the state. There is no reason for anybody not to play it. It is always open rain or shine.

Good friendly service and a great value for the area. A great course for the average golfer. Beautiful setting, well kept, fairly open, and reasonably priced. Also, not too hilly for the area and can be walked without much difficulty.
