This course, located on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound, has large fir trees coming into play alongside the fairways, and ponds in play at least four times. Tee shots from off the back of the tee boxes can demand precise shotmaking. From April through June there are over 355 rhododendrons in bloom, adding to the beauty of this course. The scorecard doesn't show handicaps for individual holes.

Perhaps saying that this is the best 9 hole public courses on Whidbey Island isn't saying much, but those who pass on this course while on the island are missing out. The $7 is well worth it for the 1300 yard par 27. The course is dotted with interesting teeboxes (one is off a truck, another off a tractor), waterhazards (several ponds) and beautiful landscaping. The owners are extremely friendly (once driving out to bring me an umbrella in the middle of a cloudburst) and the course is great for beginners with very flexible rules (they allow clubsharing even); it's a laid back attitude that is contagious once you get on the island. If you're a golfer that demands a course with a fancy pro shop, electric carts or gimmicky holes, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a place to practice your short/mid-range game and enjoy yourself with friends/family, bring your $7 for the milkcan because they don't take Visa.

Andover Golf & Country Club
"One of the Best"
Andover is certainly one the best course in the region. It is very challenging as well as one of the most beautiful courses around. The greens at peak season are like glass, the roughs will chew you up and cost additional strokes and the narrow fairways boarded by homes will make you shiver. Your score is determined how well you can over come the fear of taking a full swing or whimp out just to keep it in play. Not being an extra long course makes you contemplate the great shots instead of the smart ones. When you make a mistake take the bogey and go on to the next hole.

Member : I found this golf course very changing and beautiful. Even though the course is somewhat short, it is heavily guarded with trees and it has a fair amount of sand around the greens and 3 fairway bunkers, the 1st is on #3 and the other 2 on #17 . The greens are very will maintained with a good quick pace to them. It would be wise to keep it in the short grass because the ruff can get pretty hairy. The best thing about this course is that the average cost to play is $20 to $40 dollars with cart. The down side is that it is located in the sticks (Corry Pa.), about 50 to 60 minutes south east of Erie Pa. They recently started taking take t-times about 2 years ago, so you can call ahead and schedule your time (up to 3 days ahead). If you like a changing and scenic golf course you should take the short trip to North Hills and give the course a try. Happy golfing R.A.W.

"4 stars for price and condition, not difficulty"
VERY short, but for under $30 all year and its great shape it is a 4 star must for golfers on a budget. Those looking for a challenge should not look here, its just a nice easy day of golf.
