Paint Branch Golf Course4690 University Blvd College Park, MD 20740 Phone: (301)935-0330Fax: (301)935-5310
This nine hole course is short and well maintained. The fairways are tight, and the greens are small and medium speed. There are three ponds and one creek that come into play on several holes. The terrain is flat and easy to walk. The signature hole is #1, a 360-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot to a fairway with water on the right side and trees on the left. This is also a very scenic hole, especially in the fall. The Golden Bear Golf Center, with two driving ranges and two miniature golf courses, opened in June, 1997 and is adjacent to the course.

| this was once a fine small test of golf. the course has seen it's share of weather related problems ( a tornado, and numerous floods), but has always seemed to bounce back. after the last major flood, the park service decided to fill all the bunkers in and sod them. since this course is known as a beginners course and boasts a large practice range with professional instruction, it seems strange that those golfers learning the game will not have the opportunity to practice sand shots while on the course. that said, the course is usually kept in pretty good shape, and is very convienant for singles who walk on. there is no need for a riding cart, and the layout provides a good walking workout. the pro shop does not have the most extensive line up of merchandise, but does provide the high to medium handicapper the basic golfing supplies. the snack bar is a simple combination of vending machines and warmed up hot dogs during the main golfing season. |
