The signature hole is #2, a 112-yard, par 3, requiring a precision tee shot to a well-bunkered green, which has a river running past the back of it. The ladies' tee off of the same set of tees as the men.

A Very Simple Par 3 Course, Oct 13, 2004

Not much to say. Greens are not very good, course wide open and most holes play very near the same yardage. I take two wedges and a putter (one wedge only play it once). Every green is on a plato, this course built in a flood plain. Good driving range and a very good teaching center.

Bass Rocks Golf Club
"A Classic golf Course"
Bass Rocks in my opinion is an ideal kind of golf course. Every time you play is different. The winds off the ocean can be a help at times. However, other times it can play havoc with your game. The course forces you to play almost every kind of shot there is. From high flops to knock downs, it will test your game. The staff is second to none. Friendly and always willing to offer a tip or two that will help make your round more enjoyable. The members make you feel right at home. Like they have known you for years, even if you just met. In my personal opinion, every town should have a club like Bass Rocks.

"Neatest course in Texas"
I went and played a round of golf at the Hilltop Country Club last week for the first time. It was an expereince,the course is set up real cool. I was a high school golfer who would have loved to get out of school and walk to go play golf rather than riding 30 minutes on a bus to and from practice everyday. The course is on the grounds of Troup ISD.And after I got finished playing golf I walked to the 19th and had a cold budlight.The bar has what ever you want,and the ladies were so nice.

"Overrated!!!"
September 2004.. Just an average course. Not taken care of like it was in the early 90's. Cartpaths nearly undriveable due to broken pavement and potholes. Several greens in poor condition. Sandtraps washedout. Overrated and Overpriced!!!!
