This is a long, flat course with large, fast greens and narrow fairways. It was the site of the 1967 PGA Championship Tournament. There are water hazards that come into play on six holes, and sand bunkers are in play throughout the course. The signature hole is #5, a 343-yard, par 4, requiring an accurate shot to a half-moon shaped green. Caddies are available on weekends only. Golfers may bring their own pull carts.

Shadow Hawk Golf Club
"Fall Visit"
Shadow Hawk is a beautiful venue. The course is hard to rate in the middle of winter when the trees are not in bloom and leafy. The fairways are open and more than fair. The greens are as challenging as they come. They are filled with undulations that make straight putts rare. The greens roll fair and pretty fast. The clubhouse is very classy and comfortable (in winter, nicer than the course itself). I would hope to play this course again in summer (heat and all) to see the beauty. Chief at Sky Lodge Golf Course, The
"Bring it on!"
The Chief is perhaps the most challenging course I have played in northern Michigan. While it is a toughy, especially from the tips, it brings out a carnal instinct in me to play it again because I know that with my new knowledge I can improve my score. The course was in great shape with its bent tees, greens and fairways nicely manicured. The pro indicated that they just lowered the length of the rough, which made a great improvement. Service was also great in the shop. Leave your driver at home and have some fun.
