This relatively hilly course has tree-lined fairways. The signature hole is #12, a 494-yard, par 5, requiring an approach shot over a hill to the green. There is water that comes into play on one hole. Fred Federspiel designed nine new holes, which were added in 1957. This course is very hilly. Every hole seemed to have a slope to climb. "uphill both ways" as they say. If you don't use a cart, you get pretty tired by about the 10th, then it becomes a chore, and not so much fun.

Corvallis Country Club is a hilly but short private club. It is in fairly good condition (bunkers are not always consistant one to the other) with nice fairways and decent greens. They have changed the configuration of the course by adding or changing several holes about two years ago. Club house is nice, food is usually good, service is spotty. Overall -- nice place to play if you are visiting Corvallis, Oregon.

Liberty Country Club
"Great Condition and Layout"
This course has a beautiful layout and hole construction. Similar to the old "country club" style courses, this smaller operation club gets the job done with what must be a low budget because the course is just in outstanding shape. The bent-grass fairways look good all year round and maintain their grass even in the hot summer afternoons of August. They also had great deals available for play during the week and for people wanting to have an outing. I'm definitely going to play at the Liberty Country Club again.

Palmetto Golf Course
"Surprisingly challenging course"
Palmetto golf course in Miami is not a championship level course. That being said, it is a good course for the mid- to high-handicapper, and when the wind is up can challenge low-handicappers as well. The course is not long or narrow, and like all Miami courses is primarily flat. However, water does come into play on 10 of the holes (although on most it's a visual nuisance only) and can easily ruin a good round. The 'signature' third hole is a good example. The water on this hole is a canal that fronts the entire green (about 10-12 yards in front of it) and makes your second shot somewhat intimidating. In fact, when the wind is up, you may have anything from a mid to a long iron in, and quite a few people play it as a par-5 and just lay up to 100 yards to avoid the thought of a 180-200 yard carry over water to a short (but wide) green. The better player will not be intimidated, but the average golfer can be. Palmetto has several holes that reward target golf, as some of the greens (such as the par 3 11th) are huge, meaning if you miss on the wrong side you could easily be left with a putt of 60-80 feet. Others, such as the short par-3 17th, feature tiny greens surrounded by bunkers. The main complaint about this course is the greens. They tend to be uneven in speed from hole to hole and day to day, and often are not very smooth. That being said, when they do run true, they can be tough, as they have numerous ridges and slopes that make for slippery par putts. Overall Palmetto is a very good value. While it doesn't compare to the elite courses in the area, for a nice day of golf, particularly for the average (mid to high handicap) golfer, this is a good pick.

Lake Shore Golf Course
"Lakeshore"
This is one of the most fantastic short courses I have played in a long time. The changes made in the past few years have really made the most out of the space the course has to work with. The holes that resemble the ones from the old course are improved, and the brand new holes make the course much more challenging. The staff is spectacular, in particular the head professional. He did an excellent job organizing our outing. We will definitely be back in the future.
