This course was built on a mountain, so expect many uneven lies. In addition, water hazards come into play on several holes, and trees are scattered throughout the course. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 9th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996.

Challenging Beauty, Apr 22, 2004

Have played this course 4-5 times in the past few years but not since it reopened. If it is being taken care of this course is my favorite in the Crossville area. Its isolation on the mountain makes it very scenic and peaceful. The holes are beautiful and difficult but not impossible. Take a jacket in the spring. Hope to play it in early June on my annual trip to the area for golf.

Lexington Golf & Country Club
"Best Kept Secret In Central VA"
Of all the courses I have played through out VA I would have to say this is one of the best kept secrets in Virginia. The greens are very fast but yet they hold very well. The vista's of the mountains on the back nine are breath taking. The #17 hole could one day be as comparable to one of the holes at Augusta or the TPC Sawgrass. Its and old club with alot of history set up in a beautiful historic town! If you can get your self and invitation to play it I would highly recommend it. Keep your head down and let it rip. Bill P.

Heron's Ridge
"Fun, yet challenging for any level golfer..."
The course will grow on you. The first time I played it, the course kicked my hind-parts. Every hole has a different look and challenge. The fairways and greens are always in great shape, even though they don't overseed in the cold months. Because the course sits high, even though it was built on wetlands, there is always wind, and therefore a challenge. The course will beckon you back time and again. Very nice play and good staff.

Willow Springs Country Club
"Scottish track with many nuances"
I am a member at Willow Springs. Although not the longest of courses, it will teach you all the shots you need to know. The course is always in playable condition and is a challenge for all golfers, I myself being a scratch golfer.

Oakdale Country Club
"Wow........"
I have a membership at Oakdale and let me tell you, it's worth it. The courses rolling hills and steep inclines make it a tough challenge. The bunkers and the water hazards are also huge barriers to overcome on this course. You can't beat the price either. My membership paid for itself in a matter of weeks and after that I was practically playing for free. I strongly advise anyone that wants an enjoyable round of golf to check out Oakdale Country Club.
