This facility has two eighteen hole courses. The East Course has fast greens and a stream that cuts through the course. Approximately half of the greens are protected by bunkers, and a pond sits between the greens on hole #1 and #10. The West Course is generally a tougher course than the East. It also has a stream that cuts through several holes, including #12, a 139-yard, par 3, which requires a tee shot over the stream to a well-bunkered green.

Getting better, May 12, 2004

Over the last couple years Warren Valley has improved the overall course some. This is a course that some holes are VERY easy. I'm talking birdie chance even for higher handicappers, but some other holes, those same golfers could walk away with a 10. Greens are very puttable put you'll have to fix ball marks that others leave behind.

"It's Fun"
The course is OK. I've played it about 10 times and they need to get the front 9 in. If they got the front 9 in I think it would me a lot more fun.

Marshallia Ranch Golf Course
"Marshallia Rocks"
This is one tough but, neat course. Carved out of the hills surrounding Vandenberg AFB, the layout is challenging and scenic. Play in the fall and winter for the best weather, because spring and summer can be very cool and windy. Each hole rewards a decent shot, but plucks out your heart if your shot runs errant. Ice plant gives a new meaning to the word, rough. Here's a putting tip, 90% of the putts break toward the high hills to the south, though you will swear it can't be. The course is usually in terrific condition and the Clubhouse very accomodating. Green fees, equipment and food are more than reasonable when compared to nearby courses. This is one gem all golfers must experience.

Shadow Hawk Golf Club
"Fall Visit"
Shadow Hawk is a beautiful venue. The course is hard to rate in the middle of winter when the trees are not in bloom and leafy. The fairways are open and more than fair. The greens are as challenging as they come. They are filled with undulations that make straight putts rare. The greens roll fair and pretty fast. The clubhouse is very classy and comfortable (in winter, nicer than the course itself). I would hope to play this course again in summer (heat and all) to see the beauty. It was still fun and challenging for this 15 handicap player,
