What a sleeper!, Aug 21, 2008

Rouge Park Golf Course is located within the City of Detroit. When you first arrive, you cannot help but notice a few houses boarded up along Bert Street. Most of the homes that are occupied have bars on the windows. However, most are kept up quite well. I mention this in the chance you make the journey to play "the Rouge", don't be detered by the appearance of the boarded up houses. It did'nt take very long for me to realize just how nice Rouge Park Golf Course truly is! The tree-lined fairways are gorgeous. The greens roll true. Even the bunkers are well maintained. The staff is friendly and are there to assure proper pace-of-play is kept. Greens fees are quite reasonable. American Golf operates (and may even own) Rouge Park. They do the same with at least three other Metro Detroit courses. I cannot say if this is the reason Rouge Park is as nice as it is. I last played here in 1995, and I do not recall the course being quite as impressive as it was for me this past weekend (August, 2008). I am in the Detroit area quite often (I'm from Toldeo, OH), and Rouge Park will now be my first choice for a round of golf each time I visit.

Luck Golf Course
"Luck Golf Course in Luck, Wisconsin"
The Luck Golf Course is a well established, beautiful course with bent grass fairways surrounded by large mature oaks. It is one of the best courses in the area. The course is challaging yet very rewarding for all levels of golfers. Located in the Village of Luck next to beautiful Butternut Lake, it is "in town" but off on its own in a lovely park like setting. Don't be surprised to see deer running accross the fairway during an approach shot. I found it to be the best around, one that you will love to come back to time after time.

Oak Park Country Club

This is a very nice course to play on. Not the most difficult course you will ever see, but it does have its moments. There is plenty of water and bunkers to keep any golfer busy. Also, the last four holes make the course very challegning. Holes 15 and 16 are the two of the longest par fives on the course. They are followed by the longest par 3 and the you finish of the round with the longest par 4 of the course. The scenery is definetly great, as is the atomosphere. Also, there is a state-of-the-art range and chipping green that could compete with any other clubs.

Orchards, The
"Must Play"
This golf course has an excellent layout and is a must play in the Detroit area. The greens, fairways, and tees were all in good shape and I believe they had four or five sets of tees to choose from for all different skill levels. The bag drop, shop staff, professionals, bartenders, waitresses, rangers, and starters were all extremely curtious and helpful. I really felt like I was a member at this club. For $70 on a weekend I was a little afraid I wouldn't get my money worth. Now I make about an hour trip a few times a month to play the course.
