This course was built on gently rolling hills, and has wide fairways. The fairways are lined with fir and oak trees, and there is one pond that comes into play on four holes. The signature hole is #12, a 407-yard, par 4, which plays completely uphill with sand bunkers, mounds and bunkers coming into play around the green and on the fairway.

The course has alot of blind shots and uphills. It has some length so you will need to use almost every club in your bag. The one thing is some of the tee boxes need work. But otherwise decent course and an overall fun experience.

for a public course it is a gem especially because it is so close to the city. it is now maintained by a private course management company and they are doing a great job keeping the fairways maintained and the greens manicured. the course is very tough on casual golfers because it has several holes where you can't see the green from the tee box. it has the signature donald ross layout with some deceiving green placements and distances. you will have to use very club in your bag for this course. i love it and would recommend it for players of all levels because of the history and layout.

Rock at Woodmoor, The
"The best course I've ever played."
This course is wonderful. I have a summertime home up on Drummond Island, and I play the rock every chance I get. It's just great, it captures the wonderful essence of the Island in a golf course. It's just a great place to be. You feel so alive, in the early summer morning being on this course. Plus the golf aspect is also great. It's a bit of a challenge, but when you're at the rock, you love the challenge. I guarantee, that unless you play the courses on the PGA tour, that the rock will be the best golf experience of your life.

Bel-Air Country Club
"Fantastic walk in a high class park"
I really liked this course. The view south toward L.A. and Santa Monica Blvd from the first tee is really quite spectacular. The course is neatly carved into the hills of Bel-Air. It is a short course, requiring good shot-making, but one on which you can "go low" if you hit the tee-ball straight (don't even need driver on several holes), hit your short irons well, and tap it with your putter. These greens were fast I thought and several were small to boot. And they told me that they were mowing them high. Whew! I three-putted three times on the front. A player faces elevation changes throughout the course, but particularly on relatively long par threes on the back side - 10, 13, 16. The single par 5 on the back is a very long straight away hole with a steep hill to the right and a stream to the left. If you're in the groove, it looks like a runway and makes you want to swing away from the tee and go for the green in two. Long hole though and green is well-guarded by traps. The surrounding "real estate" adds to the views. Playing with someone who knows the history makes the round a very interesting experience. A lot of fun...would love to play it again.
