This facility has an eighteen hole regulation course and a nine hole regulation course. Both of these courses have pine trees lining their fairways. The Red/White Course's terrain varies from flat to hilly, and its greens are fast. There are water hazards that come into play on five holes. The signature hole is #8, a 371-yard, par 4, requiring an approach shot over water. The Blue Course (the nine hole layout) is easier because there are no water hazards. You can play nine holes on the Red/White Course, but you'll still have to pay the eighteen hole green fee. The ladies' tee on the Blue Course does not have a course rating. Ladies tee off from the same sets of tees as the men on both courses.

First Time at Arrowhead, May 11, 2008

This course is in great shape with very reasonable rates. The tall pine trees lining the fairways really add to the beauty of the course and keep you secluded from golfers on other holes. The greens are not very difficult. I really enjoyed this course and will come back often.

I have been playing this course for way too many years but I can truly say that the last few years have been the most enjoyable due to the fact that the course is vastly improved. The fairways are well kept and mowed frequently so that the grass is thicker than it has ever been. The grounds crew under the watchful eye of Vernon Keller is doing a great job of keeping the course is trim shape. I will continue to play the course as long as possible and continue to see improvements each year.

"Peaceful Day of Golf"
I found the course to be in excellent condition, challenging and peaceful. Our group played a round in under 4 hours and did not see another golfer the entire day. Very private.

"Best Kept Secret In Central VA"
Of all the courses I have played through out VA I would have to say this is one of the best kept secrets in Virginia. The greens are very fast but yet they hold very well. The vista's of the mountains on the back nine are breath taking. The #17 hole could one day be as comparable to one of the holes at Augusta or the TPC Sawgrass. Its and old club with alot of history set up in a beautiful historic town! If you can get your self and invitation to play it I would highly recommend it. Keep your head down and let it rip. Bill P.
