Since this course was built above forty feet of sand, its drainage is excellent after the rains. The fairways are fairly flat, but there is an occasional hill which will cause uneven lies. The course is open, so the wind is a big factor at times. In the future, this course will be much more challenging because the newly-planted trees will have matured. The greens are undulating, but only the first green is elevated.

Local golf tourney is open to all. This four man scrambles is held annually on the first Saturday in October. Fun is more important than your score.

"Private Passion"
This is a terrific course that offers golfers of all abilities a challenge. Beautiful views, great greens and terrific golf. Many of the par 4's will challenge a good ball striker to go for the green...be careful, it's not as passive as it looks. The 5's are all long and offer plenty of scoring opportunities. Wide fairways but small greens make the approach shots important. The greens are smallish and require respectable shot making...practice your short game before playing..Be sharp! The new clubhouse, open summer 2004, will be a terrific improvement. It's going to be massive and it will certanly be beautiful.

Manasquan River Golf Club
"What a jewel!"
As described, hilly front 9, blind shots, sidehill lies, fast greens...backside links style, flat but river and ocean breezes can wreak havoc...it has been re-rated and the rough grown to 5 inches...if you can play here, you can play anywhere. Apparently their members have won a number of NJ Amateur championships as well as participated in US Opens...speaks to the challenge of this layout.

Me and a friend played this course yesterday... the 1st hole is a temporary parking lot and it is replaced by the driving range area which has been converted into a boring first hole. the course is poorly maintained and mostly boring. it is full of longer par 3's considering it is an executive course. if it was cheaper it would be worth it possibly if it was under 10 dollars a round.
