This course was built with a traditional design and the target golfer in mind. A majority of the greens are generous, with most having some undulation and bunkers in their vicinity. The fairways are lined with mature pines. The signature hole is #3, a 160-yard, par 3, which requires a tee shot that must carry a water hazard fronting the green. You'll either land on the island green or in the water. Hole #18, a 500-yard, par 5, is one of the favorites because of its dogleg fairway and the double carries over water hazards. The 5,595-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 71.4 and a slope of 135.

A must play for the savage golfer. Nice lush fairways compared to many that are firm and fast. No lead is safe when holes 11 through 16 are on the horizon. Good food and beers and relatively fast greens,

"Fantastic Course!"
I love this place, I always start my season playing this course...a 581yd opening par 5, what a hole, pull out the big stick for this gem, crush it 260-270 and then if you want to hit driver off the deck go for it....a dogleg left then right into a hole thats has a small opening into the green. Go over the green and your pitching up a hill to get to the surface of the green thats fast too.... great opening hole.... try this place, you`ll love it....

Durand Eastman Golf Course
"Good golf for a low price"
This course is an excellent example of Robert Trent Jones' genius. The course is not long, by modern standards, but many holes have elevation changes which make even the shortest of holes interesting and challenging. It winds through a beautiful, heavily wooded section if Durand - Eastman Park and in and out of two hugh revines which makes even your poorest round a joy. Some of the greens feature Jones' unique mounding that makes you think an elephant or two was buried there. The green speeds are not consistent for hole to hole, which makes for some interesting decisions on the pace of your putt, but considering the amount of play the course receives they are usually in pretty good shape for a public course. There are few long holes on the course, but the ones that are long are really difficult to to par. The only complaints I have about the course are; the speed of play (there are many not very accomplished golfers that tend to slow things down) and when the weather is wet the holes in the lower parts of the course stay pretty wet because there seems to be a problem with drainage. All things considered, this course is one of the best values for my golfing dollar that I have ever encountered.

You need to be invited to play, or know a member, but if you get an opportunity to play this course, jump at the chance. A Jack Nickalus designed course, Montreux is also a PGA tour stop for the Reno Tahoe Open.

Straight River Golf Course
"surprsingly nice"
This course surprised me. I had very low expectations when i arrived. But this little course impressed me. It was short, and relatively simple, but it was well-kept up. The greens were true and it was a fun overall experience for me. This is a great course for beginners and golfers of lower talent levels. It's definitely worth at least one round.
