This is the public gem of Erie County. Glen Oak has a beautiful layout and every hole has character and is easily differentiated from other holes. There are at least 6 holes (3,5,7,11,17, & 18) that present opportunities for eagle but double or even triple bogies loom on the horizon with errant shots. Proceed with caution. Playing this course really makes you feel like you belong to a private club and the facilities are top notch. Membership fees are steep for the casual golfer and there are definitely cheaper alternatives around the area. Still, all things considered, Glen Oak provides the best public golf experience in the county.

A lot of Nice Holes, Oct 22, 2004
reviewer: Bob Kenefic from Hamburg, NY
Course is well maintained and has a great layout. Greens were firm and true. Driving range and practice putting green were excellent. The extra cost to play here is well worth playing on the best public course this side of the border.

best public golf course in western new york, Jul 19, 2004
reviewer: David Taylor from Buffalo, NY
Once a week i play this local unknown treasure. The course is well maintained and is one of the only public courses around that allows you to hit range balls of real grass. The practice green is always in good shape and is one of the few public practice greens that lets you pitch balls. Tee times are easy to get and the mens club is well run. I almost fell like i belong to a contry club.
