This eighteen hole course is situated along the shores of the Little Kanawha River. The design includes hilly fairways with numerous sand bunkers strategically placed throughout the course. Water hazards are a significant part of the layout, especially on the front nine, where they come play on six of the nine holes. The back nine holes are more wide open, straighter and flatter. Now that the rough has fully grown on the back nine, accuracy on the fairways is more of a premium. The greens are medium in size and undulating throughout the course. The signature hole is #3, a 174-yard, par 3, which features an elevated tee that plays across a water hazard. A large bank is situated to the rear, along with four bunkers. The tee shot must reach the green on this hole, or it is time to roll up your pant legs.

Great course and can be very challenging at times. Overall condition good with a variety of hazards to keep you on your toes. Tuesday and Wednesdays have a special "Senior Day" to play all day at a reasonable price. Draws a lot of golfers from surrounding counties.

Edgewood Country Club
"Traditional Donald Ross layout"
Edgewood is a graceful example of a Donald Ross design, with elevated, contoured and fast greens. The traditional, tree lined layout is picturesqe and plays longer than its listed length. Par 4s #2 and #18 are each 420 yard gems. Three of the Par 5s are reachable with two long shots. 5-8 on the front is where the golf course really tests you. The course is always in good condition, and despite its hills, is a good walking course with a solid caddy program.

I grew up playing this course. As a kid, there was enough "forgiveness" on the course to keep my interest. Now that I've played for a few years, it's not my favorite, but still a nice course for those learning the game. Enough difficulty to learn to place shots and use a draw or fade, though. Also, the large creekbed running through the middle makes for some interesting tee shots on a few holes. The positive is, you can usually set up tee time day of. This makes it a nice course to just pick up the clubs and go hit if you feel the urge. In summer, BRING SUNSCREEN. Not much shade.
