Built on a plateau, this course features views of the hills of Ellington. The first nine holes feature rolling fairways and gently undulating greens. The back nine plays longer and narrower off the tee, and the putting surfaces are considerably steeper and more sloped. Water only comes into play on hole #3, a 195-yard, par 3, with a pond protecting the front of the green.

| Rolling Meadows was a great early season golf course. the front nine offered generous landing areas from the tee and the greens were large. I thought the front nine was the perfect season opener. After the generous front came a very different back nine. The fairways were tight and I was glad the driver wasn't misbehaving. the greens were undulating and quicker than the front nine's. The people were friendly and we received great service in the bar. This is one we'll certainly return to for our off season golf fix. |

Front Nine at Rolling Meadows, Jul 12, 2004

| I had a couple of hours yesterday and decided to go out at Rolling Hills. The front nine is much better than I expected. Playing from the blues it was a reasonable test (for an 16.9 like me). I had one birdie, two pars and the rest were bogies. The greens were hard, and I had a couple of close landings roll off the back. A high launch angle is required. Fairways are pretty generous, although you can see on most holes that danger lurks for the errant ball striker. I enjoyed the facility, and the people were very nice. The course was not too crowded after 3 PM on a Sunday, and I only waited on one hole. As a public course, the thoughtless users failed to rake bunkers, and I spend a lot of time repairing ball marks on the beautiful greens. All in all for public golf, you can't beat walking on a decent course for $19 walking. Look forward to playing a full 18.

| I always take my son (11) with me when I play golf. Well my first and last visit to Rolling Meadows was not a pleasure. The layout is another story in itself, but my problem is with the so called Professional. I was going to walk when the "pro" asked "what's this about" meaning my son. I told him that he was my caddie. Not only did he say "no way" but my son had to ride and stay in the cart at all times. I have never heard of such a thing and it totally threw my game off. We were both deeply upset and I probably should have demanded my money back, but I didn't want to let down the other people I was playing with. It must have been a let down anyway to witness such awful and careless golf from a pretty decent golfer. I will be sure to let anyone I know to not play there and the reasons why. |
