| My father, William M Newton, built that course for his nephew Valgene Gould. My father while in the Air Force went to Green Keepers School and built a Golf Course on Hickam AFB, Hawaii, and Johnson Island After retirement from the Air Force he built the first 9 holes at Palm Beach National. Daddy also rebuilt the last 9 greens at Jackson Country Club, Murphysboro. Then he went to Valgene, who at the time built homes in Energy, and told him he could make more money if he would let him build a course for him in energy. Valgene didn't even know what a golf ball was until his Uncle Bill, my Daddy, came along. My Daddy, never really got the credit for the building of Green Acres but that course would not be there if it wasn't for my Daddy's work. Daddy laid the 9 holes out on his own and spend many a hour on a dozer and on the fairways and greens. William M Newton is the true Designer and builder of the 9 holes at Greenacres and deserves all the credit. Shirley Eller at jonsdoves@hughes.net |

| I think that this is a very nice course. But I think that there could be some more sandpits and other hazards! |
