This course was built on a hillside, so expect some uneven lies. Water hazards (ponds) come into play on a few holes, plus numerous trees lining the fairways and framing the greens can alter your shots. On unique characteristic about this course are its three extra greens that can be used to form a total of twelve holes. There are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing an eighteen hole round.

I used to be a loyal customer of this course. The prices are fair, and they have discounts for seniors and students. Until today, I have golfed there religiously for 6 years. Yesterday I had a terrible experience with the manager/pro (Debbie King). She repeatedly yelled to our group that we were going to slow during play (Even though we were stuck behind a slow group). It came to a tipping point when she screamed during my back-swing of an 8 foot putt. My group was kicked off the course for "being disrespectful". The rest of the staff knew this was unjust, and apologized numerous times. The rest of the staff is fantastic, but I will never again golf at this course after my experience yesterday.

For some reason this course never gets old or boring. Challenging greens and huge trees make for a unique layout. The Eugene Country Club is the only course in the area with comparable tree size. The black tees make the course more realistic with todays technology. Initial impressions of Laurelwood are: "This place is too wet", "These greens are terrible", "I hate 9 hole courses", "It's too hard too walk around here". Get over it, if you want to complain about a course that really is worthless, go to River Ridge. River Ditch is the most pathetic excuse for a golf course I've ever seen or played. Couple this with the bitter, pompous, egotistical jerks that work in the clubhouse and you have the worst course in the Northwest hands down. Laurelwood is great, I just don't want anyone to know about it. War River Ridge.

The greens are being cut shorter., Aug 13, 2006 |

The greens are fast now. Before they were slow. It's the best reasonalbly priced course around. A tough walk but there are carts to rent. It is a challenge to score well your first few times around. Side-hills, up and down. It's not crowded because of this. If it was 18 holes I would give it 5 stars.

although not the most pristine at times this course is fun and inexpensive. i've played here since high school and usually play once a week. it's worth the green fee just to get out and play. weekends get sorta backed up ... like all courses. gotta love "the WEED"
