Sure, I am a local who is partial to the Down River course, but there are so many good things to say: the course is well grooomed, you will be greeted by pleasant personnel, pro shop, bar and course have a great atmosphere, and most of all - this is a long but playable course that, in spite of being open, is challenging. Hazards will make you think, but because it is wide open you will be getting your driver out. Many folks do play the fairway - not necessarily their own, though. The greens are usually fast, very fast. Women will find it is women-friendly and the course was recently shortened a bit for the women only. The owners and staff are constantly improving the facility, so you want to be sure to stop by and see what is new or improved.

Down River is a nice course with wide open fairways, But don't let that full you. I'm happy if I shoot 94 or 95 on this course. I've shot 99 and 100 before on this course. I shoot anywhere from 89 to 93 on average to easy courses. Theres something about the layout and length that makes this course a bit difficult. If I want to test my game on a public course, I go to Down River. They have pretty good hotdogs on the turn too!

I live in kansas city mo. i have played your course 3 times i have a brother that lives on your course. im a part ime semi pro golfer .What i mean by that is i pick a few tournaments a year to play.I will also be playing your couse this week im picking my brother up to go to houston.i have played over a 150 courses people under rates yours.The course is like two different courses front nine are like alot of midwest courses flat and wide.back nine a lot harder nine going at greens you cant see.lot of easy par three.What im mean again easy for pars not so easy for birdies.Again i like your course i beleive its comperable to over fifty of the courses i have played.Your green fee prices are as cheap as i have seen all across the nation.I will recommend your course to all the golfers i know.Thanks again for the hard work look forwarwed to playing there this week.

This course borders thousands of acres of protected land on the Sudbury River. The views are great, the course is quiet and they have one of the best Golf shops around. I would recommend a stop at this place for golfers that really enjoy the game.

"Nice change of pace"
This course is a nice change of pace. I have played it every year for the last 5 years for a total of about 15 rounds. The water was way down for a few years and when it was the course was not very nice to look at. Greens are small and challenging. The course is fun to play and reasonably tough. Having a sand trap in the middle of a green is flat out stupid. That hole (# 15) is definately my least favorite hole. The par five # 14 along the road seems to always be in bad shape. Outside of holes #4 , #14 and #15 I like the course .
