This course was built on rolling hills and is very scenic. The fairways are lined with trees, but still provide generous landing areas, and the large greens are undulating. In addition, ponds come into play on three holes. Holes #6 and #10 are very hilly and provide a real challenge for all skill levels. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 9th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. Call in times are 6:30 AM, 7 days in advance for weekdays, 6:00 AM Wednesday for Saturday, and 6:00 AM Thursday for Sunday .

I Played Smith Richardson Golf Course and will not go back! Nice course, well kept, price was right wonderful friends made up our foursome. Sounds great, right! The rangers were totally obnoxious, push, push, and push. No one in front of us, no one waiting behind us (there was a foursome but we were leaving the green as they came into sight or we were gone when they arrived. Four hours and fifteen mins. To finish and they made us skip a hole, again with no one behind us or even in sight. Absolutely obnoxious!!! Whenever we play and see people waiting behind us we either speed up or let them play through, common sense. Want to ruin a great game, play here, not me!

A lengthy challengeing golf course. A course for the advanced you need not think twice about playing this course. Greens like hardwood floors absolutely top of the line. Fairways plush like soft topsoil after a days rain. Bunkers like beaches from heaven you will not want to leave. Tee boxs like th red carpet at a famous party the soft satin feel beneath your spikes. The staff like angels brought here to save the world from course like brooklawn or should i say brookhell. An Absolute mustplay the 8th wonder of the world if you ask me. . . . ps. i masterbate to the mere thought of your pro. His instructional video was renvetating yet invigerating.

I think H. Smith Richardson is arguably the 2nd best municipal track in Fairfield County behind Richter Park in Danbury. Some courses are hard, others are easy - Smith is simply wonderful, scenic and challenging. While difficult to get out as a non-resident, the non-resident fee won't set you back like so many other public courses do making this track a great value! It's always in good shape and there are some great views of Long Island Sound. You can bite off as much as you chew and there are several signature holes. Go play it - you'll love it. If you're a single, the course does a pretty good job of squeezing you in.

I have been playing this course for more than 10 years. The layout is a good one as there are options off the tee on 6 holes. It allows you to hit driver off all but 1 hole but a 3 iron or fairway wood will suffice on some. The greens are in decent shape as some trees have been cut down in the last two years to help with sunlight. The one disappointing feature are the bunkers. There is no uniform condition with some being terrific sand and others very sparse. The designs of the greens are challenging with many undulations and a predominant front to back slope. If these were kept very tight they would be a most difficult challenge, as is, they are difficult for most players.
