This course was built in the high desert atmosphere, so the ball will travel farther than normal. The signature hole, which plays through a canyon, is #15, a 228-yard, par 3. Water hazards come into play on a few holes. "Golf Digest" rated this as the #1 "Best in State" course for 1996, and 2nd best in 1997-98. The same publication named it 5th among the "Top 75 Affordable Golf Courses" for 1996. In addition "GOLF Magazine" rated this course 18th under the 1998 category of "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." "GOLFWEEK" selected it 31st on its list of "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, 60th for 1998 and 50th for 1999.

Fantastic!, Sep 21, 2005 |

| The major problem with playing Pinon Hills is that the views are so glorious that it's hard to keep your mind on your game. I seriously doubt that there's another course in the entire U.S. that offers such great golf and such great views for such a reasonable price. But, as my son-in-law's father says, watch out for rattlesnakes when you're in the rough. |

Why Boulders when there is Pinon HIlls, Apr 09, 2004 |

| All know The Boulders Resort at Carefree AZ north of Scottsdale. The S Course there is rated the best and greatest and cost way over $125 per round as listed. Well Farmington's Pinon Hills is just like The Boulders and I rate it as the absolute best value for money I have ever played. They even apologized that the fee had gon up 50cts when I played (for $14.50) some years ago. You can keep Scottsdale and Phoenix courses when there are so many, so good and so cheap in NM. Also not far from Durango (trains and Rockies) nor from Mesa Verde ("we have no TV or telephone but we do have a 100mile view") A truly great corner of the world to be in golfers bliss!! | This is the best course for the price I have ever played. It is just a joy to play and the views are just beautiful. Course was in great shape. Was a very enjoyable day. I walked but would not do it again as I got tired toward the end of the round. Other than that it is perfect. |
