This relatively flat course is easy to walk, so you may choose to take a caddie along while receiving some solid aerobic exercise. The fairways are open, and the large greens are fast. Water hazards come into play on nine holes, plus numerous sand bunkers protect the fairways and greens.

Undrerated course, Dec 18, 2006

This course has had an abundance of work done to it. It is now over 7000 yarsd and well maintained. The course is tough, but fair grees run average and the front nine is tight and shorter, while the back nine is longer and more open. Lots of undualtion in the green. Fixing the first green was a great idea. No caddies is dissappointing, the pro shop was poor, staff was nice.

This course, (Brooklake Country Club), is ALWAYS in excellent condition. The course is nicely laid out, and features some challenging holes. From the back tees, the last hole #18 is over 600 yards, being a 3-shot par 5 if there ever was one. As a conclusion, this is a very nice course to play, if you get the chance to.

Highland Springs Golf Course
"Great couse."
This course is a great example of Ozark Mountain terrain. Flawless greens, oceans of water, and large greenside and fairway bunkers make this golf course a 5 star course. The layout is a bit easier than your traditional 5 star PGA Tour Championship courses. The Nike/Buy.com/whatever its name is this year tour uses this course each year for one of its tournaments and the players always remark on quality maintenance.

Dogwood Golf & Country Club
"xtreme golfer"
I first played this course in the winter season and I was really impressed with the condition it was in. The fairways which are Bermuda were dormant, but very well maintained. The layout was quite challenging, especially the 2nd hole which required a nice fade over trees which would put you in position for a nice approach to an elevated green. For those without a fade in your bag, this hole would stretch your imagination and skill level to attempt to go for it in two. The remainder of the front-side consisted of two other dog-legs to the right which again would require a nice fade shot in order to reach in regulation. The finishing hole on the front side is fairly long, but straighforward - again another dog-leg to the right. On the back side, your course management skills are challenged very early on the second hole. From an elevated tee shot you can attempt a 240+ drive to an elevated fairway. If not executed properly, you can find your tee shot in the woods (left OB), in water (right and short). This hole requires good course management and disclipline. The remainder of backside plays either up or downhill with water coming into play on several of them. The greens are medium to large, but fair. Overall, I was challenged on this course and have considered joining this course in the the spring. Rates are very affordable.

Hillcrest Country Club
"Miniature Southern Hills"
Hillcrest is an old (built 1926), established, traditional golf course. Originally designed by Perry Maxwell (Southern Hills, Prairie Dunes, Colonial), it was updated in 1980 by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. The course features tree-lined fairways, lots of doglegs, and difficult small greens. It has hosted numerous USGA Qualifiers, an NCAA regional, numerous OGA state amateur events. While short in length, it plays longer because of the doglegs and elevation changes. Course record is 65 and is held by Justin Leonard and several others. This is an excellent golf course that you will want to play again.
