I have played Royal Lakes many times I would rate it as one of the top 10 courses in Ga. I have played many many other courses thru out the south and Royal Lakes is one of the best. The layout is very good,the fairways and greens ever time I played has been awesome in great condition. You will shot around 6-9 strokes more playing here it is will test your skills. Everyone should get the chance to play here at least once and you will come back. keep up the great work.

Fairways are somewhat tight but generally in good condition - Greens are lush but still fast & tough to determine speed.

A very playable course for everyone, Mar 04, 2004

As a member of Royal Lakes since 1993, I am very familiar with the course and the management. I have watched the membership grow, and I have endured the total renovation of the course over a 9 month period. The new owners did not leave anything to chance as they, with the help of the current pro, walked through the entire course making necessary changes. The newly renovated course is very playable for all skill levels, and the greens are immaculate. I am proud to call Rodger Hogan, the head pro, my teacher, and one of the most professional individuals I have ever known. There is no question in my mind that Royal Lakes will become one of Georgia's premier golf experiences in the years to come.

Champion Hills Golf Club
"Champion Hills - great place to play or to live"
The course is spectacular, both in scenery and in the variety of play that can be had -- from novice to expert. Tom Fasio did a great job, using natural elements beautifully. Watch out for the 4" rough! It is lush and can eat your balls so magically that they can NOT be found. Course management is excellent. Hazards are well maintained as are the fairways and greens. Most of the T-boxes are elevated and the views in the valleys include small waterfalls, hardwoods, mountain laurel and rhododendron covered hills with mountain vistas all around. The clubhouse offers wonderful sunsets and terrific food. Excellent additional amenities like a health club, tennis, practice areas. VERY nice bungalos for lease, nearby B&B, charming small town. Close to Asheville, Biltmore House, Grandfather Mountain, Greenville/Spartanburg airport, Appalachian Trail... We really love this area and this particular course.

"Good course, has all the basics, soon to be a hidden jewel"
I played here twice so far. The fairways were in pretty good shape. They recently hired a new superintendent from Charlotte National (Dino) who produces some of the best greens in Charlotte. With a little time, he will have those greens rolling right. He has already started re-doing all the bunkers. Some walks from green to the next tee would be impossible to make. It has some beautiful holes. Most bunkers did not have enough sand in them, but they're being re-worked now with some getting all new drainage and sand and some being filled in as grass bunkers. This will make it a fairer course.

I only have one complaint about this course, and that is that it is to wide. Putts do not break on this course either. It does not matter how much the green looks like it will break it does only slightly.

Green Acres Country Club
"Deceivingly difficult"
I'm a scratch player who has played the course as a guest about 20 times in the past 4 years. I have never been able to break par, even on my best days. The trees are very punishing. The doglegs also make the course play longer than it really is. You need to be strategic to score well there. All in all, it is very well manicured and challenging in a good way.
