This course was rated by "Golf Digest" as 32nd among "America's Top 75 Public Courses" for 1990. The reason the course is ranked so high is because of the layout, course conditioning, and there are no homes on the course. The course has wildlife such as snakes, otters, alligators, turkeys, and wild herons. This is a hilly course as far as Florida is concerned. There are four ponds and some canals that come into play on ten holes.

Nice layout, plenty of water, and several holes where a long and accurate drive cuts off some yardage making for a good scoring opportunity. Nice scenic area with no houses on course, lots of birds, gators, etc. One or two holes parallel highway, the rest wander through pristine southwest florida country. Long par 3 from back tees on front 9. Beautiful par 5 followed by par 3 and another 5 making the turn coming in.

Mountain Valley Golf Course - Maple/Oak Course
"hidden gem"
Course was originally 18 but 9 new holes were added in the last few years. The three nines, oak, pine, and maple are all challenging with tight tree lined fairways with generous sized greens with a fair bit of undulation. Huge elevation changes on some holes offer great views of the surrounding PA countryside. Although not the longest course, although some holes are quite long it is easily the most difficult in the region due to the tightness and difficult putting greens. The greens are always in great condition so the difficulty I have with putting is assuredly not the course, It's all mine. Great value too, and a friendly and helpful staff makes these three nine hole courses a must when in the area.
