The Johnny Miller Pro Am was held here in April 1994. Yosemite National Forest is only 40 miles away. The course was built on the foothills resulting in undulating fairways. The signature hole is #17, a 401-yard, par 4, requiring a shot past a lake on the left side of the fairway.

My husband came home from playing the course and was very impressed with the course, but even more impressed with the management. Not thinking when he left home he wore blue jeans. Not a problem they loaned him a pair of rain pants, and sent him on his way. We have stopped at other courses, and were turned away, because we were not dressed to code. My husband was very impressed at how they handled the situation and did not embarrass him in front of his friends. We will return as often as possible to play this beautiful and challenging course. Thanks for understanding that we sometimes have a lapse of good sense.

Flowing Lake Golf Course
"Hitting the Ball at Flowing Lake Golf Course"
If you are up for the drive (depending on traffic, 1-1.5 hrs NE of Seattle), Flowing Lake is a very nice "short" course; there are no par 5s, and you can finish 18 holes in 3 hours. Tucked away in the scenic foothills of the Cascades, on a clear day, some prominent snowy peaks (Pilchuck, White Horse) are visible from several of the fairways. The course is hilly, there is plenty of water (to avoid) and you'll get some exercise "hiking" the 3rd and 12th holes. You'll know you've lived a clean life if your ball doesn't roll all the way back down the hill if you fail to drive the green on those two holes. The 11th is the wildest par three you'll ever play! I've actually t'd off on 11 using a putter - and landed the green!! No sense in me describing it; you have to experience it first hand. FL is low traffic with friendly staff and VERY reasonable greens fees; <$20 for 18 holes. Over the years, I have brought friends & business clients visiting Seattle (from all over the world) out there; never a dissapointment, always enjoyable.

Mosholu Golf Course & Driving Range
"ON THE LOW"
I am a novice player (or hacker). I think this is a great place to learn. I don't know anywhere else in the city where you can walk up on a nice weekend and not wait long to play. The POOR DRAINAGE on Hole 1 in the fairway 20 yds. from the green makes this blind approach shot unfair. That and more yardage markers are my only complaints. The greens are well kept for a municiple course. The fairways are maintained well. The long holes, narrow fairways, and blind approach shots make this course challenging even though there are no bunkers and two water hazards. Their practice facilities which include a practice range, a sand bunker, at least two chipping areas, and a putting green is ideal for the novice golfer to work on their game.
