What a Shame..., Feb 03, 2008

Fantastic golf. Terrible customer experience. Lee Golf has continued to let the level of service and quality of the facilities decline to the point that this golf course more closely resembles a poorly run municipal facilty than a semi-private club. I really feel badly for the members as this could be a real gem.

Playing this course for the first time, you'll enjoy the package deal this club offers. Breakfast, Lunch, balls and cart are included in the price which on a weekday can be as low as $29. I was impressed with the speed of the greens and the condition the course played. A good advise is spend 20 minutes on the putting green if you spend 20 minutes on the driving range, you'll be glad you did. I'll be coming back for sure. First time I shot a 78 +6, with many putts missed. :)

The Trails is a demanding course that places a high premium on accuracy on nearly every approach shot. The course recommends that players be a 6-handicap or less to play from the tips, and this advice should be heeded without exception. The front nine is challenging, but fair, but the back nine has destroyed many a good round. The greens are Champions Bermuda and are typically some of the best around. Putts are fast and true and leave many a golfer wishing their course had the same. On the contrary, The Trails' bunkers are poorly designed and often contain too much native soil to play standard bunker shots. This can be frustrating for even the best players. The greens and tee boxes also require a great deal of water for their type, which is a bad mixture for a course designed in a marshland. The course tends to be soaked during morning rounds, so first-time players should wait until the afternoon to get the best possible experience. Overall, The Trails is a nice course, despite is challenges. The average golfer will make it around in just under 4.5 hours and will go through half a dozen golf balls - at least.
