| I've played Dry Creek for the past 30 years and I never get tired of the layout. The oak trees are huge...the greens are in great shape most of the year...the staff is friendly and always make you feel welcomed. The Head Golf Professional the past nineteen years is Rod Sims...known to many as "The Man". The dress code is very specific..."We recommend you wear a Dry Creek hat and shirt". Play Dry Creek once and it will become one of your favorites. |

Tough But Fair, Sep 30, 2004

| I have played Dry Creek for a number of years and it is still one of my favorite courses in the area.
Once you play it you will understand as to why it was once listed in the top courses to play in California.
A straight ball in most all cases will never hurt you, and this holds true for Dry Creek. However, if you are able to work the ball in Both Directions... you will find even the toughest of holes very receptive.
Some of my favorite holes are #13. A fairly long dogleg right par 4 that has a huge Old Oak guarding the left side of the Green. A few years back they decided to give us a break and enlarge the green, although it is easier than before don’t let the size of the green build your confidence too much as this is a hole that will surly bite you if not given it’s due respect.
Number 15… which is a long dogleg left par 4 with OB left and hazard right.
Number 18 dogleg left par 4 that plays 437 where you are left with an approach to a green that is slightly elevated and usually into the wind. Did I mention the creek that spans some 50 yards running right in front of the green? A four here will feel like a birdie!!!
This is a course that has plenty of character and quite the find for such a reasonable price. I play it when ever I can and have recomended it to many. |

Difficult test for average golfer, Jul 12, 2004

| Dr Creek, without a doubt, is the toughest golf course in the sacramento area. This course thrives on narrow fairways lined with trees, oh, and the trees will get to you at least once a round. On the good side, the course is set up perfectly so that if you do hit into a tree or two, there is always a way out and possibly a path to the green. It's very rewarding to hit into the trees and then hit a shot up and over onto the green. Other than the narrown and forest fairways, I'd say this course is just average on it's layout. You have to play right by the freeway, which can be somewhat distracting at times. On a good note though, the driving range is the most beautiful thing ever, and is hidden back in a grove of trees, away from everything. Very nice touch. The bottom line is, don't golf here unless you can hit the ball straight. You don't have to be a great golfer, but you better have control. |
