One of the best public courses I have played!, Sep 02, 2005
reviewer: PhaatKaat from Topeka, Kansas USA
Let me start by saying I have played 100's of golf courses all across the USA and Canada. Most of them were average at best. A few were really enjoyable, but Prairie Dunes made a huge impression on me. In fact, I went to the internet looking for a place to post a review for this track. This was a wonderful golf experience. One that does not come along very often. Not to mention a tremendous bargin. $30 with cart on a weekday. I would compare the value to Pinion Hills in Farmington, NM. The course was in excellent condition when we played it on 8/31/05. Prairie Dunes has several challenging holes. Believe it or not, there are several tee shots that have blind or slightly hidden landing areas. The tee boxes and fairways were in excellent condition. Bring extra golf balls if you are not straight off the tee, especially if it is windy.(which it usually is...it was 30mph with gusts to 40mph the day we were there.) The rough is thick, but playable. The native grass rough areas are very thick and not playable in most areas. The greens held a shot nicely, but were faster than I had expected. I would say they were an 8 to 9 on the Stimp. You will have a great time on this course!! Prarie Dunes has a wonderfully friendly staff to boot! It is worth the trip to experience this gem!

The Best Pound for Pound, Jan 28, 2004
reviewer: Anonymous from Anonymous
The dunes is possibly the best course for the money in the entire state! I give the course five stars due to its all around duffer enjoyment. The course itself allows for not just a fun but also a challenging round. The beauty of such a course in such a desolate location is unbelievable, as is the staff. You couldnt ask for a friendlier environment!
