This heavily-wooded course is located in a mountain setting at the base of Crowder Mountain State Park. The fairways are rolling, and the greens are average-sized. The signature hole, nicknamed "Young's Revenge," is #14, a 560-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot that you must keep under 215 yards or you'll end up in the lake, then a second lay-up shot and finally an approach shot that must carry 125 yards of water hazard to the green. Water hazards come into play on some of the other holes.

Leave your ego at home or this course will eat you alive!! If you hit the proper landing areas you'll shoot great. The course is in good shape with fast greens. If you hit the perfect drive on "youngs Revenge" forget about hitting anything above a 6 iron on your next lay up shot. Good landing areas quickly narrow. Once I learned that I stop getting 8's and 9's on this par 5 and started to get par's. A hard course to walk but the scenery is breathtaking.

My favorite Course in the Charlotte Area., Jun 28, 2004

This course will bite if you don;t keep you ego in check. The fairways are in good shape and the greens are really really fast. A couple of 4 Wheeled damage greens prevents this from being a 5 star rating.
