This old-fashioned course was built only three blocks from the Pacific Ocean. "GOLF Magazine" recognized it in their 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America. The fairways are wide open, but lined by Ocean pine trees, and the ocean breeze often affects your shots. The greens are small and generally level. The main hazards are the old-style Scottish bunkers with hanging lips. As a general rule, the ladies play from the same tees as the men, with the exception of the three par 5's in which they are given a slight advantage in length.

Don't be fooled--a challenging course, Jul 26, 2010
reviewer: Mark from Cincinnati
We played on a cloudy day with only a light breeze, but there was plenty of trouble for wayward shots. Greens are very small by modern standards, and were firm and fast with plenty of undulation. The course is short, yet players cannot bomb it and expect to score well. The bunkers were fierce, with high lips and soft, soft beach sand that gave no bounce. I especially enjoyed playing a course that included design features no longer seen, yet were quite challenging in many respects. Perhaps the best part of our round--we played in 3.75 hours, walking. The course expects players to finish in 4 hours or less, and I was glad we played briskly. I recommend this course to all players who visit the area.
