Even though this course is fairly hilly, it still has visible and defined fairways. The large greens are fast and well bunkered. The fairways are wide open, but lined with pine, maple, and birch trees. There are plenty of water hazards to contend with, so play smart and lay-up when recommended. This course is strictly private on the weekend; only members and their guests are permitted to play the course.

I play it often and it is great. Some holes look easy, but beleave it and others are hard. But everyone can play this course.

Tremedous Par 3's and elevated greens!, Jul 09, 2005

This course is a tremendous bargain and a wonderful challenge for any golfer. The elevated greens make the approach shots tricky. Each of the par 3's hit over water and sand. The par 3's also average close to 200 yards from the back tees. The elevation changes create interesting and challenging golf throughout the entire layout. The course belongs to a Property Owners Association that is well worth checking out. Real estate is a bargain in this area with two private lakes and the tremendous golf course.

Glen Garden Golf & Country Club
"History"
Glen Garden is a great place for Golfers of all ages. Playing on the course, it is easy to see how it produced such greats as Hogan and Nelson. They have the classic postage stamp greens. You must be accurate with your approach shot or you will miss the green. It is a great course for beginners as there are relatively few holes where a bad shot will lose your ball. The pace of play is very relaxed and the course staff are over the top friendly. The only down side to Glen Garden is that when it was built it was out in the country (1912?). In the 1950's Fort Worth grew and houses went up all around the course. Unfortunately these houses we small wooden houses and over the years it has become the bad side of town. There have been huge efforts by the local population over the last ten years to clean things up but it will take time. I highly recommend a visit to Glen Garden for any golfer. If you have an interest in history you will find it fantastic to consider you are walking on holy grounds.

"Beautiful and challenging old-style course"
This a beautiful, scenic golf course which will challenge every golfer, regardless of handicap. The maturity of this course, which includes huge oak trees and large shade trees, gives the impression of walking in a park, with the added enjoyment of playing golf. Even though the length of the course is short by modern standards, that is where the challenge lies. Drives must be accurate, and pitch shots precise. The greens are deceptive and fast, and are well-bunkered. The clubhouse is very well-planned, with great views of the course from the men's lounge and dining room areas. The men's locker room has been remodeled, and I guarantee that Luis, the locker room chief, will never forget your name. He is a wonder. One golfing visit to this club will make you wish you could live in the area so that you could apply for membership -- it is a memorable golfing experience.
