This narrow executive course has undulating fairways which will cause many uneven lies. The back nine is more hilly than the front nine. The greens are average-sized. The most difficult hole is #13, a 289-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot up a sharp dogleg-left fairway, then an approach shot to a green with cliffs protecting its right side. Golfers are only allowed to play nine holes in the mornings from 7 AM until 8:30 AM. The course was redesigned in 1994. Seniors have the option of renting a cart for an entire year.

Scholl Canyon Golf Review, Nov 06, 2004

Well kept public course is short, but has many challenges to bear. A perfect game at Scholl Canyon means playing all 18 holes with the same ball. Great place to hone your shot making skills without the need for power golf.

Short but sound, Nov 04, 2004
reviewer: Kip Putterbaugh (not really, that's just a good golf name.) from Glendale - where else?
If you'd like a break from playing behind guys who wait on every par 5 to go for the green then end up shanking it into a pond 50 yards to the left, give this place a go. I've never waited on a hole, and tee boxes are next to greens, so walking is minimal. Though you can leave your driver and 3 wood in the trunk, there are challenges to be had - that's right, you heard me right - distance isn't the only way to challenge a golfer. The front 9 is flat and straight forward - see hole, hit ball at hole - but the back 9 is different. The two par 4s are bordered by steep hills, and if you slice it, you're finished. Scattered between the par 4s throughout are pitch-n-puts, and if you're having trouble with your pitching, you better hope you're putting well - high rough and a plethora of bunkers exact a heavy price for imprecise tee shots. Now, of course manly men will say, "That course is too small for me and my big stick!" But really, when's the last time you saw one of these guys hit an approach shot to ten feet? Exactly! Plus, even on weekends, you can get around Scholl Canyon in two and half hours, so your wife can't complain that you spend every Saturday with people other than her. One warning: the only bad walk is from hole 11 to 12. It's about 200 yards, spanning about 200 vertical feet - hypertensives, take a cart.

Wonderful Views, Crappy Greens, Jun 17, 2004
reviewer: Sarge from Glendale, Ca
This course can be tough if you dont hit the ball straight. There are a couple of holes that are a lot of fun #1, #3, #9, #13, #14 (island green), but there are some big wastes for holes (like the 3 diffrent unimaginative par 3's of 90 yards). It can be tough to find if you dont know Glendale very well. One of the teaching pro's named Brian Eggelson is a great guy a wonderful teacher and makes the trip worth while.
