June 19,2004 My friend and I went on an experience with this course this morning. We golf every weekend ,trying a new course each week, this week was no different. As much as we love the game we are not that good. As the old saying goes, "A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work." Back to the course, be careful while warming up on the practice green, because they do not act the same as the well manicured ones on the course. When you think the greens will break a lot they only go about half of what you would expect. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The course is forgiving and a challenge and it is a good course to play. You can play 18 in a little over 4 hours. The staff makes sure the pace of play keeps moving along. I would reccomend this course to any one who enjoys the game, whether they are good or like me the usual 120 shooter,or as we all know "THE HACKER".Check next Sunday for a hacker's view of Thunderbird.

We usually get right out with out a tee time. You have to think and use golf course management to score. Definately risk verses reward here. have fun!!!

Mountain Valley Golf Course - Maple/Oak Course
"hidden gem"
Course was originally 18 but 9 new holes were added in the last few years. The three nines, oak, pine, and maple are all challenging with tight tree lined fairways with generous sized greens with a fair bit of undulation. Huge elevation changes on some holes offer great views of the surrounding PA countryside. Although not the longest course, although some holes are quite long it is easily the most difficult in the region due to the tightness and difficult putting greens. The greens are always in great condition so the difficulty I have with putting is assuredly not the course, It's all mine. Great value too, and a friendly and helpful staff makes these three nine hole courses a must when in the area.

Hidden Valley Lake Golf & Country Club
"Not the greatest but had fun."
Nice flat 18 hole thru a nice up and comming community. The green are very well kept. Good for an average golfer like me and reasonibly priced.

Lake Wilderness Golf Course
"Good targeted golf layout"
Likes: This is a good test of any golfers skill. It requires you to think and plan from the tee. Golfers who like to pull out "The Big Dog" and grip it and rip it on every hole will not like this course. The course forces you to play smart to score well. There are risk/reward holes worth the gamble, and others that attempt to sucker you. If you play smart you can score well at Lake Wilderness. If not, it may be a long day. This is a shorter course. The clubhouse has good food and good beer. Dislikes: Only one really. I don't care for holes where there are houses close. This course has a handful of them.
