An Excellent Course but..., Apr 03, 2006

Village Greens is an excellent course that is well-maintained, but it appears to be too challenging for many of the players it attracts. Play is really, really slow with excessive waiting on each hole. I'd rate this as a 5 star course were it not for the very slow play.

I've played an awful lot of golf this year and Village Greens was the best course I played in SC in 2004. Green were like Augusta! Fairways were lush.

I am a Stay-at-home Dad who travels around the state trying out different courses. This was the best course I have played in SC in 2004! The greens were absolutely perfect in September! 1st rate track!

This course is the old style that doesn't wrap around a housing development. You hit many different shots during your round.

Glen Garden Golf & Country Club
"History"
Glen Garden is a great place for Golfers of all ages. Playing on the course, it is easy to see how it produced such greats as Hogan and Nelson. They have the classic postage stamp greens. You must be accurate with your approach shot or you will miss the green. It is a great course for beginners as there are relatively few holes where a bad shot will lose your ball. The pace of play is very relaxed and the course staff are over the top friendly. The only down side to Glen Garden is that when it was built it was out in the country (1912?). In the 1950's Fort Worth grew and houses went up all around the course. Unfortunately these houses we small wooden houses and over the years it has become the bad side of town. There have been huge efforts by the local population over the last ten years to clean things up but it will take time. I highly recommend a visit to Glen Garden for any golfer. If you have an interest in history you will find it fantastic to consider you are walking on holy grounds.

"Great Course"
This is one of the funnest courses that I have ever played. The open layout and scenic views made it a spectacular experience. The work crew and the people there are the greatest. With a work crew of only 5, the course is in fabulous shape and is comparable to some of the best. The fairways are in imaculate condition.
