This course is easy to score well on. The greens are well manicured, and the fairways are flat and lined by many trees. Water hazards (lakes) come into play on at least eight separate occasions. The course is closed on Monday during the winter and half days in the summer. Press Maxwell designed five new holes, which opened in 1967.

Changes at Bookcliff, Sep 14, 2006

| Recent renovations have been made on 8 holes at Bookcliff County Clubs golf course. Holes 2,3,17 and 18 have new and lengthened tee boxes. Holes 1,4,5 and 6 have added more modern looking sand traps. More course changes are planned in the future. The Clubhouse is in it's final month of construction and should open late October.
The new course changes have added mostly length to Bookcliff. The greens continue to be the courses best defense. On the small side with contour. Very tough to find a straight putt and the term "long is wrong" applies to Bookcliffs greens.
Good scores can be had at bookcliff, but not many great scores are posted. Hole number 9 is still the toughest. Par 5 with water down both sides all the way to the green and the fairway sloping off on both sides towards the hazards. More big numbers are posted on that hole than any other.
As of this review writing the course condition is unfortuanetly average. It used to be the best in the area, but greens have slowed and many more dry spots (leading to bare spots) became more pronounced in 2006. Not sure why but hoping this issue gets addressed and fixed for the 2007 season. |
