This club has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. These courses are similar in design. All three courses have an average amount of water and some tree-lined fairways. Water hazards come into play on fifteen of the twenty-seven holes. The signature hole on the Maple/Willow Course is #12, a 199-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over water to an island green. The signature hole on the Oak/Maple Course is #16, a 629-yard, par 5, featuring creeks and trees lining the fairway. The signature hole for the Willow/Oak Course is #12, a 373-yard, par 4, featuring a dogleg right fairway and a plateau green.

Carolina Golf & Country Club
"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. One of the most brutal couses I have played. Played it in 89 and again in 91 by request on Myrtle Beach gof packages. Only lame hole was #2 at that time.

"Great Winter Course"
I like to play this course in the winter when most of the other courses in the area are under water. It is also a great confidence building course for early-season golf. Always an enjoyable round. Oh yeah, the soup in the snack bar is awesome!
