| Long, tight, crab grass filled fairways. Sand/ concrete bunkers look like they haven't been tended all year. Greens furry, slow and full of divot marks. I won't come back. |

| Royal Va. is i think one of the best layouts i have ever played i have played #9 best course kinlock golf club, pinehurst #2 i have played them all and i think this course is such a good layout. Its hard period real hard from the tips. Im a +3 handicap and I struggled hard on this course partialy because the course isnt in very good condition at all. well the fairways and rough struggle but the greens are in real good shape and dont show to much ongilation but the truth is they break a whole lot. this is a great course and cheap if you can find it i recomend yo play it |

CT Yankee finds a home in VA, May 04, 2004

| My impression of this golf course initially was one of indifference due to my game inadequacies and the degree of difficulty of this track. Since I have returned numerous times to the Charlottesville area and played most of the local quality golf facilities, I keep returning to Royal Virginia to test my patience and par search.
One of the nicest professionals I have ever met, Kevin Haney, makes any visitor regardless of handicap feel like a long lost friend.
The gentile nature of most Virginians, with their quiet manner of civility, permeates this club and even a damn yankee feels right at home.
If ever there was any doubt, the game of golf is truly one of life's casual pursuits, and better than most sports; you arrive as a total stranger, leave feeling like you made a friend for life.
Oh yes, not to brag but my handicap rating is 6.7 |
