This new course opened for play in January, 1995. It was cut out of a virgin forest (composed of pine and oak trees) and the terrain is undulating. A great deal of care was taken not to disturb the natural uplands, water areas, and dense forests separating the fairways. Furthermore, water hazards only come into play on a few holes. There are eighty-plus large sand bunkers on the fairways and around the large, undulating greens. Accuracy off the tee is stressed because of the small landing areas in the fairways. The fairways are narrow because of the natural vegetation lining both sides. One of the outstanding holes on the course is #10, a 541-yard, par 5. This hole has a dogleg left fairway with water in play on your second and third shots and sand bunkers on the right side of the green. The front nine is harder than the back nine since it is more narrow.

Scenic golf, Jun 08, 2008

Diamondback is the most scenic Florida course we have played in our three years living here. A natural setting, no houses lining the fairways or anywhere in sight and a challenging layout. Most Florida courses are flat and repetitious. Not Diamondback. The rollling fairways, elevation changes and wooded areas are unique for Central Florida. You would never know this course was in Florida and we enjoyed the challenge and course very much.

A great Course, Jul 09, 2006

My wife and I played this course in2004 and haven't forgotten our enjoyable round played here. The only thing I didn't like about the place, was the areas that were fenced off because of snakes.

a jewel in the crown, May 27, 2005

Having just completed our short vacation to Florida I must write and tell you of our golf experience at Diamondback golf course, the surrounding area of natural beauty has been affected by last years hurricanes but this did not detract from our game the course itself is not unlike the courses which we play back in the uk.in as much as there are lots of tree lined fairways and also a number of holes where water comes into play the first hole is a monster par 5 and if you play this well it sets you up for a good round, the greens when we played had just been hollow tined and were not up to the usual standard but we did get reduced fees and we still enjoyed the round so much so that we played it twice more on our vacation, also a mention of the staff both in the pro shop and the 19th they could not have been more friendly and the food and wine were excellent.all in all a good experience and we will visit again.
