Its a nice course, Aug 16, 2006

reviewer: Tight Lies from New Berlin

Relatively short course (6400 yards from tips) But can be quite challenging because it has many trees. I play the course about 10-15 times a summer for the past 6 years and have seen some improvements over the last two years. The maintenance crew seems to be working really hard to improve conditions of the golf course. The pro shop staff as well as the restaurant staff are very helpfull and polite.

I play Whitnall many times each year. I have noticed that they are starting to take care of some of the sprinkler problems and the course is looking better. Greens are really good. They had a lot of winter damage early in the season but for the most part have seemed to recover well.

River Plantation Country Club - Augusta/Biloxi Course
"Challenging Layout"
Fun, challenging layout with recently reworked tees and greens. Course conditions a little spotty and a "mud-fest" if there's even a chance of rain. $25 weekday green fee is fair but $50 on weekends is a little out of line with other area courses. Some good money games on most days.

VERY short, but for under $30 all year and its great shape it is a 4 star must for golfers on a budget. Those looking for a challenge should not look here, its just a nice easy day of golf.

Desert Hills Golf Club
"What a golf course should be."
I have played this private course 5-6 times since 1992 and have enjoyed it every time. Recently I played as a guest in a small tournament and the course was in excellent condition. There are 8 other courses in this retirement community, several owned and managed by large course management groups, but they are not in the same class as this one as far as quality is concerned. There are few if any divots on the greens, all players seem to be very conscious of divot repair on the entire course, including the rough, facilities are clean and fresh, clubhouse is pleasant and modern and the staff is great. I have just joined and am thrilled to death with a life-time membership to look forward to!
