Revitalization of the Region, Sep 13, 2010

The guy from CO that reviewed this was partially accurate. Being from the area and now in Arizona I can say this is a diamond in the rough. Yes a steel and oil refinery city thats aged its on a rebound. This area although not paradise put a lot of meals on many table for the blue collar working man and likely benefited this chap from CO in one way or another. Congrats lake County.

Beautiful course in the middle of a pollution nightmare. The course itself is gorgeous. However, you look just beyond the out of bounds markers to see smoke stacks spewing out brown gas and an entire community made out of steel which was probably cold gray at one time, but after years of brown smoke filling the air, it has turned into a rusted, dirty, film covered color. It's rather disgusting.

Lexington Golf & Country Club
"Best Kept Secret In Central VA"
Of all the courses I have played through out VA I would have to say this is one of the best kept secrets in Virginia. The greens are very fast but yet they hold very well. The vista's of the mountains on the back nine are breath taking. The #17 hole could one day be as comparable to one of the holes at Augusta or the TPC Sawgrass. Its and old club with alot of history set up in a beautiful historic town! If you can get your self and invitation to play it I would highly recommend it. Keep your head down and let it rip. Bill P.

Paradise Valley Golf Course
"Paradise Review"
An above average course with smaller greens. Some elavation changes but nothing major. Greens are true but not very fast. A chipper and pitchers dream. A few shortish par 4's that will tease the big dogs but look out for the hidden teeth. A challenge for sure but fun.

Sand Ridge Golf Club
"Best of Ohio"
Sand Ridge is one of the best golf courses in the country. Even though greens are not all that fast they are always in perfect condition at all times of the year and the fairways are some of the best i have ever played from. The caddie program has some of the best and friendliest caddies in the nation.

Winter Springs Golf Club
"Winter Springs Wetlands"
This course is challenging because your lie had better be in the fairway or you'll most likely be looking for it in some form of casual water or very thick rough. The fairways were either overly-tight, negelected, outright wet, or all three. The greens are a muddy, slow-medium to slow speed with only a fair amount of undulation. The par 3 greens are almost all too large and too flat to be much fun. I've played WPGC twice and didn't really enjoy the experience because of all the standing water in the rough and on the fairways. I'm rating the course at 2 stars only because they have reliable and frequent refreshment cart service.
