This wooded course was built on a mountain. There are three ponds and two creeks that come into play on seven holes. The greens are fast, undulating and always well manicured. Hole #16, a par 5, requires two separate carries over water, including one from the tee box that sits 150 feet above the fairway.

Felicita represents everything that is good about golf...and capitalism. Whereas most things you bought 10 years ago might now be double the price, Felicita's fees have literally been cut in half in the last decade, without a noticeable decline in course condition or amenities. It wasn't long ago that this fine mountain course (think the Poconos without all the grating New Yorkers) was commanding $95 for a round with cart. Today, you can play this exceptional track for something like $40 -- even less at off peak times and/or with coupons. Between the economy, the large number of decent courses in the area, the course's difficulty (it's definitely not for sprayers), and management's largely failed attempt to woo out-of-staters, Felicita simply could not sustain itself while charging ultra-premium prices. The result for area and visiting golfers is a challenging, well-kept, beautifully landscaped and unique-to-the-area course that is now a better value than many inferior courses. A must play, but don't forget the bug spray...

"A true hidden jewel"
If you ever get a chance to play this course then do it. It's longer than you think it is and it is a very tough course. The course is kept in excellent shape and the weekday cost to play is very reasonable. The membership cost is also very reasonable for someone who is looking for a moderately priced country club.

Gleneagles Golf Club
"Satan's Glen: Hardest Golf Course I've Played"
Glen Eagles gets a lot of negative press due to the location (in the hood...there are projects off the 5th hole), and the fact that it's 9 holes only (though you can re-play it from different tees to make it 18). But the main reason everyone hates it, is because it's hard as hell. Every shot is a utility shot...there is something in your line, you're on a hill, the angle is impossible, the distance make carrying difficult, etc., etc., etc. With a slope of 139, this is one of the hardest courses you will ever play. And the "roughness" of it is simply part of it's charm. Let me put it to you this way...Lee Trevino played Glen Eagles years back, while practicing for the US Open at the Olympic. He couldn't break 80...in two rounds. This was in his prime. No, this course is not high-class. Actually, if you need an umbrella in your drink or someone to pick you up at your car so you don't have to carry your bags...don't play Glen Eagles. If you're a sportsman, who wants the ultimate golf challenge...come out to Glen Eagles and try to break 80. When you don't - just head into the bar and have one of many beers on tap and a hot dog. Relax, nobody else broke 80 either.

Sand Springs Golf Course
"Nice but rough"
There are a lot of positives at the Sand Springs Golf Course. Beautiful views of Tulsa, comfortable clubhouse, extremely nice people, low rates and a signature hole (#12). What keeps this course from being one of the best in the area? The greens. Having played this course off and on for the past 6 years, I can't remember when there wasn't some sort of kill on the greens. Due to this ongoing problem, it doesn't compare with alot of the local public courses in Tulsa. Should they ever get a handle on the greens, it would become my favorite.
