slope rating does not tell the story, May 18, 2004

slope 102 is very misleading. The fairways are extremely tight, the greens severely sloped and fast - poses a challenge for the average golfer. the bogey golfer would do well to hold that average on this course. you will definitely spend some time in the woods on this course. Lost balls? YOu bet. With sloping fairways, your ball is heading for the OB markers. Fun to play - just keep them very straight.

"Outstanding"
This is one of the most beutiful golf courses in the great North West. Every hole has it's challenges such as long narrow fairways, tightly placed pins, and ponds throughout. The plush greens and marvolous clubhouse are just two of many great amenities this course has to offer.

Lakes at El Segundo, The
"Great Course, Better Practice Facility"
The Lakes at El Segundo is a beutiful course with some stunning par 3s. The couse is made up of moslty short par 3s and a couple short par 4s. The holes are all very short and beautifully kept. This couse can be played by both beginners and eperts alike. The downsides are that the course is crowded, so expect to wait on the tees. I recomend reservations several days in advance. The other downside is that your day is over after only nine holes. The practice facility is excellent and Tiger Woods, who has a home in nearby Redondo Beach can often be seen playing there. It has an awesome driving range and a huge putting and chipping green. If your just out to get some practice in, or a quick nine holes, this is the place.

this course has ndergone a complete renovation in the last three years, including new greens and tee boxes, drainage and irrigation unpgrades and a beautiful club house. Not the same course I played five years ago, but still friendly and informal

I have played several courses in the St. Louis area and all of the courses in Columbia and I would reccommend that people play this course at least once. The back nine is one of the hardest back nines I have ever played. It is easier to play later in the year because the rough burns out.
