This old, traditional course has small greens and narrow fairways. The course is located on an island and has oak, hickory, and maple trees lining all its fairways. This is quite a beautiful course that people will remember long after they've played here. The ladies tee off from the same set of tees as the men.

| I have played here many times but I especially appreciated this course for a few reasons. First, There are no difficult lies, since it is located on an Harsens Island (South of Algonac- $6 dollar ferry fee), the landscape is rather flat which brings me to my second reason for rating it higher than normal. I have 3 teenage boys who are just starting to play. We already had played many executive courses but need somewhere for them to get the feel for a full size course. This is it! The rough is unforgiving, but only 1/2 of the holes are bordered by woods, so if you have a bad slice either compensate or bring many shag balls. However the other fairways are very expansive and open. There are a good number of challenging shots which also makes the lack of terrain OK. Some of the greens are nestled within the woods, where there is only one alley in and one alley out, very interesting. My last reason is that the course generally has a moderate amount of traffic which is also very helpful when you have juniors that need to develop ' ready to play golf ' skills. I have yet to find someone pushing at our back, wondering when you are going to get one in the head, and since it is a full size course with challenges, I have never been on the heels of anyone. If there is any critique, I would say that the bunkers are not in the best shape, but we use rule 28 for that. Afterwards there is a quaint supper club that is casual and affordable. |
