This course features flat fairways and well-bunkered greens. Water hazards come into play on three holes, and the tree-lined fairways are narrow. A difficult hole is #10, a 340-yard, par 4, which plays uphill with out-of-bounds left and right. This course was specifically designed with the average golfer in mind. It was named one of Golf Digest's "Places to Play," and was host of the 1996 men's and ladies' USGA Public Links sectional qualifiers.

| Herndon is an enjoyable course to play. It forces you to think before you drive. If you are driving the ball, well you can over-power the course but at the same time, if your drives are off there is plenty of trouble waiting for you. The staff does a wonderful job of maintaining the course especially the greens. This is a great home course if I lived near by I would play it a least a couple of times a week to keep my game sharp. |
