This club has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations, and a nine hole executive course. The North Course was closed down until spring, 1997, due to flooding. Until then, only the South/West combination was available for an eighteen hole round. The oldest combination, the North/West Course, has more bunkers around its greens and many more mature trees lining its fairways. On the North Course, there are ponds that come into play on four holes. The West Course only has one water hazard, and the South Course has a couple of ponds coming into play on two holes. The greens are elevated on all twenty-seven holes. The most difficult hole is #2, a 440-yard, par 4, requiring an approach shot over a hill to the green. The Executive Course has water hazards coming into play on a couple holes. Junior discount rates are available on weekdays.

Championship Layout, Nov 10, 2004

Thi course is a real sleeper, but not for long. Due to flooding in 1996, it fell from grace. However, since the beginning of 2004, with a new pro, new management, a new greenskeeper and a greatly improved capital improvement program, this is the best course for the money in the entire Portland area.

"A true hidden jewel"
If you ever get a chance to play this course then do it. It's longer than you think it is and it is a very tough course. The course is kept in excellent shape and the weekday cost to play is very reasonable. The membership cost is also very reasonable for someone who is looking for a moderately priced country club.

"TOUGH GREENS"
I live in the neighborhood so, I've played it many times. Very nice course. Be in shape if you're gonna walk it, though, it isn't called Hilltop for nuthin! Competitive rates, great conditon. These greens are TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUFF. They're fun though, as is the whole course. Lotta trees lining the fairways, so you gotta keep it straight. Not a lot of water comes into play, just a few holes.

"Dutch"
A tremendous couse in a beautiful mountain setting, especially in September and October when in full fall foliage, the afternoon temperatures in the low 70's and the skies so blue the horizon lines become razor sharp. The back nine challange you with mountain streams, blind doglegs, an occasional buck jumping from a creek bed and or lofty tee boxes daring you to choose a loftier iron for dropping it between the aspens and the traps.... Not too many courses in the world offer better views, thinner air for longer drives, or nicer people to pamper your needs. July through mid October is prime... take plenty of time and the closest of friends, I guarantee you a memorable experiance and a challanging round!

Hilltop Country Club
"Neatest course in Texas"
I went and played a round of golf at the Hilltop Country Club last week for the first time. It was an expereince,the course is set up real cool. I was a high school golfer who would have loved to get out of school and walk to go play golf rather than riding 30 minutes on a bus to and from practice everyday. The course is on the grounds of Troup ISD.And after I got finished playing golf I walked to the 19th and had a cold budlight.The bar has what ever you want,and the ladies were so nice.
