This very unusual course has various design styles incorporated into its overall layout. Some of the greens are elevated, and the fairways are wide open but tree lined. The front nine is more of a traditional design, while the back nine is more of a links-style design because it features more undulating fairways. Water hazards come into play on twelve holes.

This is a great course that is challenging enough, yet playable, for those of us that don't have the time to practice all the time. If you don't stay on the wide fairways, you'll be hacking out of the trees. It's a comfortable course that you don't feel pressure to rush; and if you bring lawn chairs, you can hang out at the picnic area across from the 18th hole and have a cool Heineken after your round and check out your score, while watching others tee off on their last hole. Highly recommended!

A very different challenging layout. A need for power, finesse and a little luck will be needed on this course. Fairways in good shape. Greens are in good shape but could be faster. A decent value for your money.

"My first course"
I grew up playing MCC. The main criticism of the track has always been that you never get a flat lie, which is often enough true, but a weak criticism nonetheless. When typically fast the greens are challenging (hint: everything breaks toward the ocean); on #13, if you don't keep it below the hole, any putt you don't sink will wind up all the way at the bottom. The course favors a longer driver, and offers plenty of challenge and opportunity for creativity. And you can't beat the view of the Pacific.

"Good Starter Course"
For an inexpensive, well maintained course to play while you are learning the basics of golf, this course is the one to play on. No par 5's. The course has good water, and easy par 3's that are helpful when you feel the pressure of the group behind you when your beginning. For the price, the location in Fountain Valley's Mile Square Park is beautiful, and I've never felt that a person starting off in the sport would feel embarrassed to make a mistake at this course.

I have to admit that I have been a charter member since it opened about 5 years ago. It is a very pretty course and the greens and fairways are maintained in excellent condition. Indeed you can use every club in your bag during an 18 hole round. Fairways range from relatively flat to uphill or down hill. The greens are some what undulating such that an approach shot or chip close to the pin is rewarded while a shot further away typically will require at least a two put to get it in. So far a few sand traps have been installed with probably more to come. During the peak season the tees suffer some what from heavy member play and frequent tournaments. The restaurant has excellent meals especially on Friday and Saturday nights or for booked events. The staff are very friendly and ready and willing to assist in any way they can. The carts have GPS locator systems built into them (the 1st. in Central New York I believe) which enable you to electronically record your score, know your yardage at all times from the cart to the pin, and even to order refreshments at the turn. Try out the course. You will be pleasantly surprised.
