Great Day at Diamondhead, Nov 06, 2004 |
| reviewer: Eldon Combs
from Springfield, MO |
| Six of us traveled to Hot Springs for a two-day golf outing. We played 36 holes and Diamondhead and love every one. There are two separate nines here. The front side has drop-offs, tight doglegs with ob's on both sides, long par 5's and a par 4 #8 that's kind of quirkey but is very unique and we thought fun. The back side is much more wide open and frankly much easier than the front side. Except for the 18th which is a great hole for any golfer. It's a Par 5 with a dogleg right followed by a dogleg left and elevated trees on the left side of the fairway that will make even the best of golfers think twice about going directly at this green on their 2nd shoot. How many holes have you ever played that you need to hit a fade on the drive and a draw on your 2nd shot just to set you up for your third shot. We all loved the course and we must have seen 2 dozen deer during our round. They were very tame and seemed to enjoy us as much as we enjoyed them. In short the golf course has a great & innovative design with just a couple of quirky holes. You might want to lose your driver on a few of holes just to hit the fairway. We all commented on just how beautiful the course was and there was only thing we were'nt prepared for Bermuda Greens (much different than our bent grass greens back home) Todd and the rest of the Diamondhead crew made us feel very welcome on a very busy day for them. I think you'll enjoy your day a Diamondhead and for the money it's a real bargain. |
