This semi-private course is well maintained and in excellent condition compared to the other courses in the area. The terrain is somewhat flat, and there are water hazards coming into play on some holes. The signature hole is #18, a 571-yard, par 5, requiring a straight tee shot up a narrow fairway bordered by a thick cut of rough, then an approach shot over water to the green.

| Greens were unbelievably sandy. On the bright side pitch marks never appear but instead a cloud of dust. |

5/9/06-what happened to the putting greens?, May 09, 2006

| I last played here in 1999 and it looks to me like the place is pretty much run down. I remember fast difficult greens and properly manicured fairways. That is not what I saw last Saturday. The fairways were cart damaged, the cart paths were poorly done as every hole had water overuns on the cart paths and the putting greens were horrendous. The one bright spot were the electric golf carts but it seemed so strange that they made me sign a damage liablility form for the potential damage to the cart. I was not offered the option to walk so the total price of 46.50 was in my opinion, way out of line considering the poor condition of the course. My group of 15 Saturday morning golfers looking for a place to play will not be back. |

A good, tough course, Jun 06, 2005

| I've probalbly played this course 50 times or more. My parents house is three block from this course. It is a tough 18 hole course. The fairways are fairly narrow, well guarded by strategically placed bunkers as are most of the greens and very well treed. Water abounds on this course and is in play on 1, 2?, 3, 6, 7?, 8, 9, 11?, 12, 13, 17, & 18. The signature hole listed in the description sounds more like the 9th. The 18th calls for short drive/lay up onto a tongue of fairway surounded on three sides by water. I've never seen anyone carry the water, though I'm sure it can be done. I beleive it is 300+ to do it and a narrow target.
The club has been taken by new management in the past couple years. They have put alot of money into making the course alot nicer. Many of the bunkers, particularly the fairway bunkers, were not very playable owing to poor sand texture (gravelly) but that is changing the last few times I've played here.
The clubhouse is nice with a large dining room and full svc bar, locker rooms for members, a nice driving range and huge putting green.
Marshalls enforce ready play and keep things moving and are generally very good guys.
Overall a good golfing experience, I shoot in the high 80's, low 90's. this course is somewhat forgiving but can be a very harsh mistress indeed. |
