Although the terrain is not very lengthy, the slick, sloped greens make this course rather difficult. The scenery is beautiful, featuring views of the mountains and hills in the distance from many spots in the design. The most difficult hole is #2, a 565-yard, par 5, requiring a lay-up to a ditch on the second shot, which must also avoid ponds on both sides of the fairway. The fairway is lined by trees on the right and an out-of-bounds area on the left side. The green is protected by a sand bunker on the left and another one above.

This course was awful when I was there. The new 9 holes was built. I can sum up the new nine in one word, pathetic! I gave it 3 stars because the existing 9 holes are excellent. Plus it was early and if they fix some things they could save a good course. To me I thought they stuffed 9 holes into a place that could accommodate 7. If you are a 90+ golfer, don't go. You will be in the woods most of the time on the back nine. The course has ravines with bushes and trees that need to be carried on at least 5 holes. Plus, the 400 yd. par five is just insane. A tree blocks your tee shot, it doglegs, and you must hit the ball into a landing zone before hitting to the green. Hit it straight and off the ground or you'll be in lots of trouble and out of golf balls.

mature course, country club style, Aug 05, 2004
reviewer: R. Lewis from Santa Barbara, CA
This is a course that has been around for years and has the feeling of the stylish country clubs of years gone by. Tall trees; well manicured greens and fairways; pretty greens set into the dense woods with tricky reads and challenging putter feel. A great value, because the course is close to the beautiful Raystown lake: great for fishing. boating and camping. Downside that keeps it from being a "5": "pee-brained locals" who collude to restrict growth that would bring the best restaurants and other first-rate attractions.

Now open to Public!, Jun 12, 2004

This course is now open to the public, and also building a back 9 in the future. I really enjoyed this course. It was well maintained and the people that were there friendly. I would have gave it 5 stars if the back nine was built!
